Miami Open Themed Days

Miami Open Themed Days
Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

As I write this article from a snowy and cold Toronto, I can’t escape the sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) as I preview the mouthwatering food and activations being rolled out across Hard Rock Stadium for this year’s Miami Open.

Presented by principal sponsor Itaú, the Brazilian banking institution has taken hospitality to yet another level in 2025, with theme days and additional fan activations throughout the two-week tournament running from March 16 to 30.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s happening around the grounds in 2025!

Brazilian Heritage Day presented by Itaú (March 19)

Attendees can immerse themselves in Brazilian culture with authentic performances, including samba dancers and drummers. The day also features Brazilian coffee specials and a happy hour serving traditional Caipirinhas.

Miami is known as one of the most multicultural cities in the world, with strong Brazilian and Hispanic communities. Hosting a Brazilian and Hispanic Heritage Day allows the tournament to recognize these communities and honor Miami’s vibrant demographic and cultural identity. As we are seeing more often around the world, sporting events are attempting to foster a sense of community and encourage interaction among its fans.

 Hispanic Heritage Day (March 20)

This day celebrates Hispanic culture with live music, dance performances, and culinary offerings that showcase the rich traditions of Hispanic communities. Given Miami's strong Cuban influence, expect classics like Cuban sandwiches, ropa vieja (shredded beef stew), and some specialty cocktails that have been promised too!

Dare I say, the only thing missing is a Cuban cigar lounge… ssssshhhhhh.

 Women's Empowerment Day (March 24)

Focused on honoring women's contributions to sports and society, this day includes special events and guest speakers to inspire and empower attendees.

I only need to look back to last week when an Australian male radio host made derogatory comments about the Matildas, Australia's national soccer team, comparing the team dynamic to a group of “year 10 schoolgirls” and attacking the way they represented themselves.

So good on the Miami Open for reading the room, or should I say the globe, and highlighting the persistent challenges female athletes face. A theme day like this helps shift the narrative from disrespect to empowerment, and if you have seen the latest WTA Tour rebrand, you will know that it’s all about empowering these athletes and the next generation of girls.

Out at the Open (March 25)

Dedicated to LGBTQ+ pride, the day features vibrant performances and giveaways, fostering an inclusive and celebratory atmosphere.

The LGBTQ+ community in Miami is significant, with an estimated 20,228 individuals within city boundaries and 183,346 in the Greater Miami area, representing 4.5% of the city's population.

Expect a lot of color and energy on this day!

 College Night (March 27)

Students are invited to enjoy dynamic performances from college DJs, LED robots, and a variety of food and drink options, creating a lively collegiate environment.

Red cups, beats, and Havana Club! Say no more!

 Kids Day (March 29)

Families can participate in activities such as face painting, airbrush tattoos, giveaways, and live entertainment, making it a fun-filled day for children. Shall we say, Mums and Dads, this day is for you! A little bit quieter than some of the other theme nights, but if you do not like that, you can always get a babysitter.

Beyond the theme days, the tournament offers a variety of entertainment options sure to keep all in attendance seeking the perfect balance between the courts and the show grounds.

 Bring on the Miami heat!
